The United Church of Christ in North Hampton divides it's leadership into two parts:
Church Staff - this includes our Pastor, Music Director, Administrative Assistant, Faith Formation Coordinator, Treasurer, Assistant Treasurer and Sexton.
Church Council - this includes our church moderator(s) as well as volunteer help for all areas of the church (buildings & grounds, clerk, faith formation, fellowship, finance, missions, worship, health & wellness, and youth)
Many of these volunteers facilitate committees for their particular area and a few of these volunteers also duplicate a staff area... serving as a support system for that staff person.
Meet our Staff:
Rev. Mike Gelsomini
From a young age, I was involved in church life. Growing up Catholic, I served as an altar boy and at one time considered becoming a Catholic Priest. In 2002 I discovered the extravagant welcome of the United Church of Christ and never turned back. In 2010 I graduated from Andover Newton Theological School and went on to serve as Pastor and Teacher of the West Gloucester Trinitarian Congregational church in Gloucester MA. I have been a bi-vocational pastor the past 7 years and am excited about serving UCC North Hampton as it’s full time pastor.
I am blessed to have married my best friend and loving wife, Sara. Together we have two adult children who remain a big part of our lives.
I love to experience God in different ways, whether it be through worship, spending time with family, at the beach, in nature, with friends or working on a mission project. I take seriously the extravagant welcome of the UCC and I look forward to meeting you, no matter who you are or where you are on life’s journey, come and experience the presence of the living God with us!
Mrs. Mary Oliver, Music Director
Mary comes to us after serving 25 years as an organist and 4 years as a choir director in the United Methodist Church. Her parents and one brother are all retired ministers. Mary is excited to be in this church, with its wonderful choir, amazing organ and excellent pastor.
Mary received her Bachelors of Arts Degree from Mount Holyoke College, double majoring in Music and Biology. After working at Mass. Eye and Ear Infirmary, doing research on the inner ear, she returned to school to get her Masters Degree in Child Life: Working with Children in Hospitals.
Mary is blessed to have three adult sons who all live in New England. She works at North Hampton School as a music teacher. She enjoys gardening and walking.
Pam Sullivan, Faith Formation Coordinator
Pamela supervises, manages, maintains and monitors ministries with children and their families. By working closely with the Pastor and Faith Formation council members, Pamela creates programs that nurture infants through middle school age youth. She also coordinates the Faith Formation volunteers and maintains the safer spaces policy for children.
Pamela has always loved the element of surprise, making others happy just for fun or in the unexpected help for others. The magic of the awesome "wow" response is priceless to her. Bringing that recognized knowledge that God's blessings and creations in everyday life, when paid attention to, are always met with a "Wow!" Be it the wow in the beauty of nature or beauty in the feeling of safety in God's arms and in the teachings of Jesus; it is clear that "wow" and becoming close to God is one in the same. This message has become a calling in Pamela's heart to teach children in a fun way so that they will always see the "wow."
After a long spiritual search for the right church, Pamela, her husband Dan and daughter, Sarah feel blessed to have become members of UCC North Hampton in 2011. They reside close to the church, with their dog -want to be cat- Bailey. With deepening religious growth, the congregation has become their second family. read more...
Michelle Drehobl, Administrative Assistant
Michelle has spent the past 25 years employed as an administrative assistant, customer service representative, or as a LNA at both Portsmouth Regional Hospital and a nursing home. Born outside of Chicago, Illinois, her father’s employment transfers also allowed her to experience Houston, Texas for her elementary and middle school years, and then onto Dover, New Hampshire for her high school experience. The West Coast was calling her name and for college she traveled to Long Beach, California where she received her degree in Marketing. After college she was fortunate to have her career path take her to Lake Forest, California and Dallas, Texas. After quite some time away from home, Michelle felt that it was time to go back to Dover, New Hampshire to be close with her family again. Seeing them a few times a year was just not enough. She felt extremely blessed on the day she welcomed her son into this world. It has been an amazing journey these past 12 years watching him grow and become his own individual. During her free time she enjoys spending quality time with her son whether it's taking walks with him, taking him to soccer or swim practice, and camping. She enjoys cooking, decorating, and crafts of any kind. Michelle is passionate and takes great pride in being close with her parents and 2 siblings, along with being a mother. Michelle's main goal in life has been to help and to make a difference any way she can with friends, family, and those around her.
Joanne O'Connor, Treasurer
Joanne has been a member of UCC North Hampton since the mid-1980’s, volunteering in various capacities during that time. Participating as an alto in the choir and occasionally offering music with her flute has brought her much joy.
With a degree in elementary education, and no teaching jobs available in the early 1970’s, she embarked upon a 30+ year career with PSNH (now Eversource). She retired early to enjoy travel and time with family and friends. A combination of enjoying working with numbers and timing led to her acceptance of the Treasurer position in 2018.
