Task Group Responsibilities:
Christian Education:
It is the responsibility of the Christian Education task person to be a liaison between the Christian Education Committee, the Council, and the Minister of Family Life.
Weekly: Make sure there is Nursery Person and one adult volunteer. That all classrooms are staffed with teachers (two per class). That juice is made and/or available as well as a healthy snack. That Peace Papers have been copied and are in the basket at the back of the church.
Monthly: Prepare Youth Learning Report for Lantern and Council meeting. Attend Council meeting. Before end of each Sunday School unit, ask for volunteers to sign up to teach following unit. Check supplied for Sunday School and Nursery at beginning of month and make purchases. Fill out request form for reimbursement. Check with teachers for any special projects they need supplies for or help with. Meet with Minister of Family Life to discuss upcoming events.
Special Purchases and Events: Easter palms. Mother's Day and Father's Day carnations (flowers given to all women and men at beginning of service on respective days). May -provide registration for Vacation Bible School. June - last Sunday of Sunday School each child given plant, each teacher/helper given dish garden; also provide small gift for Nursery staff. Close Sunday School Year with ice cream social. Late June-July - order curriculum. Send letters to families with registration forms for Sunday School and Nursery. Indicate that Bibles will be given out on Rally Day. August - teachers' meeting to prepare for Sunday School. Order Bibles. September - first Sunday continue registration. Second Sunday is Rally Day. Family Story Bibles to students entering preschool class; Children's Bibles given to 2nd/3rd graders; Study Bible to confirmands. October - plan budget for next year with Minister of Family Life. Christmas Eve - organize Nursery coverage. Christmas - small gift for Nursery staff.
Nursery Attendant: The Nursery Attendant will be responsible for the safety and loving care of children under the age of four in the North Hampton UCC Nursery. Children should never be left unattended. There should be at least one adult and one Nursery attendant at all times. The nursery room should be surveyed for any harmful objects, and the bathroom door should be kept closed and locked (hook and eye) when not in use. Parents are responsible for completing the Nursery form. Parents should sign up on the volunteer list to help in the Nursery.
The Christian Education task person should support the next Council person who oversees this task area, pass on all relevant documents to the next task person, and be available for consultation.
