Task Group Responsibilities:
Missions:
The Church Council Missions task person has the specific responsibility of coordinating the Church's program of missionary education, of encouraging Church participation in Our Church's World Mission (OCWM), and of considering and coordinating domestic and world missions and other benevolent causes.
The Council Mission task person is called upon:
To establish a Missions task group made up of persons responsible for specific mission efforts and/or persons interested in the church's overall mission and outreach, and to call and lead meetings of the Missions task group as deemed necessary.
To determine current areas of focus for outreach with input from Church Council, the Planning Committee, the Mission task group and/or the congregation as a whole.
To take responsibility or assign responsibility for carrying out outreach programs, including:
Partnership with the Emerald Church in Zimbabwe and the related Heifer Project;
Senior High Mission Trip to San Antonio and Mexico;
Preparation and serving of meals at Cross Roads House;
Mission activities of the Ladies Union,
Greater Seacoast Habitat for Humanity Supper;
Souper Supper to raise funds for the McConnell Endowment Fund;
Thanksgiving Turkeys;
Christmas Stars;
Food Pantry for Rockingham Community Action;
Alternative Christmas Market;
Greater Hampton Area Interfaith Hospitality Network
To aid the Finance task group in developing the mission portion of the next year's budget.
To coordinate the special offerings for OCWM
(Neighbors in Need, The Christmas Fund, One Great Hour of Sharing, and Strengthen the Church), as well as the Christmas Eve Offering, given each year to a local mission agency.
To serve as liaison between the Mission task group and Church Council.
To attend and encourage others to attend Conference sponsored mission education functions in order to gain understanding, ideas and skills in the area of outreach.
To support the successor to the position of Missions task person, to pass on all relevant documents to the next task person, and to be available for consultation.
