Task Group Responsibilities:

Buildings and Grounds:
It is the job of the Buildings and Grounds task person on Council to see that all aspects of the physical plant are kept clean and in good repair, and that all systems are functioning properly.  In order to accomplish this the Council task person makes a periodic tour of the main church, Little River Church, and the parsonage to see if there problems needing attention.  (Generally, if any repairs are needed at the parsonage, the Pastor(s) will bring it to the Council task person's attention for action.)
If there is work that needs to be done that will involve outside contractors, the Council task person finds recommended tradespersons to look over the job and to submit bids, three if possible or appropriate.  (Generally it is preferable that members of the Congregation be solicited for help before engaging outside contractors.)  The bids are then submitted to the Council for discussion, and an award made if the budget will allow.  If necessary, temporary measures are discussed for implementation until such time as the budget will allow for permanent work to be done.
It is not intended that the Buildings and Grounds task person actually do this work, but rather to determine the work that needs to be done, and then to enlist a suitable crew to perform it.  This does not, however, prohibit the Council task person from performing the work if it is his/her wish to do so, and he/she is qualified to do it in a professional manner.
The task person should form a committee to help with the Buildings and Grounds work.
The Council is to be kept informed at its regular meetings of what work needs to be done and what projects have been completed.
The Buildings and Grounds task person should support the successor to the position as Buildings and Grounds task person, pass on all relevant documents to the next task person, and be available for consultation.
