Mission Notes

Cross Roads House Service: Our church prepares and serves the evening meal at Cross Roads House on the 4th Friday of each month. Historically, we have served close to 80 meals for $75; however, the numbers of people served have been increasing during the winter months, and we anticipate the costs to increase as well.  The meal that we provide (chicken, smashed potatoes and green beans) has received "Rave" reviews.  Special thank you to the cooks.
You are invited and can assist with this worthwhile mission in the following ways:
Donate large cans of Green Beans, bags of Red Potatoes, and large cans or bottles of Juice.
Write a check to UCC North Hampton and denote: Directed Giving - Cross Roads.  Place your check in the offering or leave it in the red 'Cross Roads' Donation box in the Vestry)
Contact Nancy Bergeron (964-8487) if you would like to serve from 5-7 pm on a 4th Friday night.
Contact Gail Hiltunen (964-6909) if you would like to help prepare the meal the Wednesday before.
Donate trash bags, SOS/Brillo pads, hot mats, potholders, salad dressings or dishcloths for the Cross Roads Tote Bag the servers will be using.

The Missions Committee invites the congregation to support the ministry of Seafarer's Friend.   Seafarer's Friend is an organization that helps foreign sailors on the ships that dock at our Seacoast Terminals.  Pastor Nash Garabedian, an ordained minister in the United Church of Christ ministers to the sailors and has found that they are, #1 - looking for telephone cards to call home, #2 - in need of warm watch caps, and 3 - love magazines.  In order to help meet the needs of the sailors, congregation members are invited to donate magazines, watch caps, and ditty bag contents.  These needed items are listed and can be left in the Seafarers/Cross Roads donation box.  If you'd like to learn more about this ministry or would like to donate a phone card, contact Nancy Bergeron (964-8487) or Gail Hiltunen (964-6909).

Seacoast Visiting Nurses Assoc. Foot Clinic the second Wednesday of every month from 2-4 pm.  Call 926-2066 for an appointment.

Caregiver Support Group meets the third Thursday of each month. See Janet Sanborn for details.

The Ladies' Union will meet  2nd Wednesday of each month, in the vestry, beginning at 10 AM. Bring a sandwich for lunch; beverage and dessert will be provided. A short business will follow. New members welcome.

Our Shawl Ministry Circle will meet on the 1st Wednesday of the month, meeting at the home of Gail Hiltunen. Are you ready to fill the winter hours creating a gift of a colorful prayer shawl? Would you like to learn how to knit?  We have many new knitters learning at our meetings. The shawls fly off our needles to go to those who may have health needs or a personal crisis, or to celebrate a marriage, new babies, or friendships. A message of hope, love and caring is knitted into these shawls, to warm and embrace the recipient.  We have a great time together. Please join us!  Call Gail Hiltunen 964-6909.

Flowers are a wonderful way to commemorate a special occasion or loved one.  The flowers calendar is posted in the vestibule for you to sign up for a date you would like. When you sign your name on a date, please call Candice Ray (964-6606). The cost of the flowers is $ 30.  It is extremely important that you put your payment in an envelope and write on the outside your name and the Sunday that you are ordering the flowers as well as "Flowers." If you write a check, note on the memo line that it is for flowers and put the date of your flowers. Thanks.
