Rev. Michele Bagby Allan, M. Div.

I am pleased to share this word of welcome with you as well as some information about my life and faith journey that have led me to serve as the pastor at The United Church of Christ in North Hampton.

I grew up in Clarksburg, California, a small farming town in Northern California.  I was fortunate to grow up in the Clarksburg Community Church, UCC and to be nurtured by my nuclear family as well as a truly fine church family.  Formative faith experiences included singing in church choir (from age 4 on) and attending church camp in the high Sierra Nevadas.

I was fortunate to attend the University of California at Santa Barbara for four years and to attend the First Congregational Church of Santa Barbara during that time.  I received a BA in Religious Studies there and hated to leave the unbelievably beautiful landscape.

But, leave I did, to go home to figure it all out.  Fortunately, I had the opportunity to work in my hometown for family friends at Bogle Vineyards and Winery.  In figuring it all out, I ended up at Harvard Divinity School (HDS).  (While there is not space here to tell the full tale, trust that I did not anticipate a journey so far from home or to so lofty a name for seminary.)  Fortunately, HDS proved to be a wonderful place for me to learn and grow in faith, theology and philosophy.  Another formative experience was doing a full time seminary internship at the First Congregational Church of Murphys, California.

After graduating with my Master of Divinity, I served the United Congregational Christian Church (UCC and DOC), in Lodi, California for 3 years.  During that time, I met my husband through church camping programs.  We were married shortly after my time serving the Lodi church finished.

A big part of our newly married life was to find the next place for me to serve in ministry.  Again, the tale is long to tell.  Suffice it to say that we have been moved by the way that God has called us to New Hampshire, and by the way that the church has welcomed us home.
